如何檢視你的詠春拳? - 詠春四要點

雖然,我們有一個正式的考試機制,以檢學生對所學之詠春拳的熟練和理解程度。回想當我還是學生,我常常懷疑我的詠春拳是否有進步除了偶爾師傅告訴我我練得不錯,大多數的時候,處於時而覺得小有進步時而覺得挫折感很重。當時我常常得依靠自己黐手的表現如何在這個判斷自己詠春拳是否有進步。然而,像前面提到的黐手狀況總是上上下下的。例如,星期和師兄弟練黐手覺得自己不錯。然後,下週馬上覺得自己的黐手很糟糕。基於這一經驗,現在是教練的我,覺得應該給我的學生們一些準則,讓他們可以隨時隨地檢視他們的詠春拳是否在正軌。儘管我的一些朋友是巴西柔術高手,我從來沒有受過巴西柔術的訓練。巴西柔術的人似乎經常談論到“姿勢”(“Posture”)和“位置”(“Position”),這給了我靈感來制定下列的詠春拳要點讓學習者來作自我檢視

1原理 (Principle):詠春拳往往冠於一個是以概念為主術。因此,我們應該確實遵循這些詠春拳基本的原則。例如,直線的原理,中線原理和來留去送甩手直沖等。”

2姿勢 (Posture)學習路的一個重要目的是訓練我們如何保持好的姿勢/結構。我的陳太極拳師公陳小旺說:“當你的有問題時,這同樣問題會出現在推手中。”我發現在詠春這論述也是成立的。當學生的黐手有問題,往往他們的套路也有同樣的問題。當學生的套路都正確時,然而在黐手時卻會犯錯誤,我給他們提醒在套這個動作是怎麼做的來修正他們黐手的問題。有些人不喜歡。套在我們的功夫訓練中有它的位是有它的道理,所以不要忽視它的重要性。

3位置 (Position):這裡指的位置可以方面來看。首先是我們肘的位置。是否有做到沉肘或肘。其次,它也意味各的位置,如攤手是否過低或膀手過高。第三,它指的是我們站的位置與對手位置。舉例說,我們是否有朝形。彼此的距離過遠或過近。或者能佔到有利的位置並吃位

4勁道 (Power):許多中國功夫不強調局部肌肉的力量,但強調勁道或內勁的重要性。詠春也一樣。儘管開始時這不是容易做到的,我們是否可以慢慢學習到放鬆並且多依靠正確的姿勢所給予我們的紮實身體結構。其次,是否可以做到剛柔並濟。最後,我們需要學習如何控制自己的勁道達到收發自如層次。當與我們的師兄弟練習黐手,這一點尤其重要,因此我們不傷害對方。

當然,這四點並沒有完全涵蓋所有詠春拳需要注意到的領域。但這四點應該能夠對詠春學習者有一定程度的幫助,讓他們知道自己的詠春拳是否有改善和向正確的方向。

Although, we have a formal testing system in our class to check the proficiency of our students’ Wing Chun, I had been wondering whether there was something that I could give my students for them to check their own Wing Chun.  Thinking back when I was a student myself, I often had doubts on my progression.  Once in a while, Sifu might tell me that I was doing well and making improvement.  However, for most of the time, it’s kind like up and down every week.  Some weeks I felt that I was doing good.  Then, next week I felt did terribly.  Based on this experience, I felt that I should give them some guidelines, so they can check whether they are on the right track.  I have never trained in Brazil Jiu-Jiitsu (BJJ), despites some of my good friends are very good in this art.  BJJ people often talk about “Posture” and “Position” which gave me inspiration to come up with the 4P’s for Wing Chun practitioners to check their own progression in the art..

1.      Principle: Wing Chun is often labeled as a concept-base art.  Therefore, our Wing Chun should follow those cardinal principles.  For example, the straight line principle, the Centerline principle and “Lut Sao Jik Chung” (“Thrust forward when there is a gap or when the contact is gone.”)

2.      Posture: Forms provide us training for a good posture. My Taiji Sigung Chen Xiao Wong says “When there are problems with the Forms,, the problems would surface during Push Hand.”  I found this is also true in Wing Chun.  When students have problems in Chi Sao/Sticky Hands, in many occasions they have the same problems within their forms.  When some students’ postures are wrong, my advice to them is to go back to check their forms.  (Provided he or she learns the form the correct way in the first place.)  Some people don’t see the purpose of doing forms.  Some people just don’t like doing the forms.  Form certainly has its place in our Kung Fu training, so don’t overlook its importance.


3.      Position: First and foremost, the position here means the position of our elbow.  Are our elbows sunk and close to the centerline?  Secondly, it means the position of different hand technique, like Taan Sao is too low or the Bong Sao is too high.  Thirdly, it means where you stand vs your opponent.  In other words, it’s the facing.  Lasting, we need to learn to “eat” opponent’s position and take an advantageous spot.

4.      Power: We all know that we need to have power while doing martial arts.  However, in Wing Chun, we don’t want to rely on local muscle power.  What we need is the structure power or lacks of a better term the “internal power.”  Use internal power and minimize the usage of the local muscle power.  We also need to learn how to control our power.  This is especially important when practicing Chi Sao with our partners, thus we don’t hurt each other.  Lastly, we need to learn how to use our opponent’s power against him.


There you have it.  I know these 4P’s don’t cover all the bases, yet they should still give us a pretty good guideline on how to check our Wing Chun.  Hopefully, with these 4P’s the practitioners could learn how to evaluate their own Wing Chun.
